miley cyrus wrecking ball directors cut Miley Cyrus releases 'Wrecking Ball' director's cut music video Should this have been the original version?

Miley Cyrus released the director’s cut version of her controversial music video, “Wrecking Ball,” on Tuesday (Sept. 24). So did the new video feature more risky, headline-grabbing, attention-seeking nudity and other NSFW imagery

Not at all, actually. The new version is just four minutes of a close-up shot of Cyrus’ face as she sings the song, overcome with emotion, crying the entire time. It’s a beautiful representation of the song’s message, and a powerful video.

After the watching the new version, we couldn’t help but wonder why this wasn’t the original version released. Sure, the gratuitous nudity of the original video probably accounts for many of the millions of views it has on Vevo, but the director’s cut is a much more mature, artistic end product.

If all Cyrus cared about was being an artist, then the director’s cut should have been the only version released of “Wrecking Ball.”
