Mindy McCready‘s final song “I’ll See You Yesterday” has taken on a whole new tragic meaning. Though she had been pushing her friend Danno Hanks to create a video for the song to act as a suicide prevention PSA of sorts after the death of her producer and boyfriend David Wilson, Hanks realizes now she wanted him to make a suicide video for herself.

“Suddenly in the last four or five days [before her suicide] she started talking to me every day, and she urgently wanted to get this one song released, but to use it as an anti-suicide public service announcement,” Hanks says, via Perez Hilton.

When Hanks asked McCready when she wanted him to air the video, which includes photos of her with Wilson, she told him, “You’ll know when.” A day after they talked on the phone, McCready committed suicide. She had made sure Danno had included a link to suicideispreventable.org in the video.

“She acted upbeat like: ‘OK, you’re right. I need to go on. I need to do this for my children and in memory of David,'” Hanks remembers. “I realize now she was just trying to put me off.”
