mischa barton the oc film career gi Mischa Barton insinuates 'The O.C.' robbed her of a 'great' film careerThe recent 10-year anniversary of the premiere of “The O.C.” rekindled plenty of fond memories for the FOX soap amongst fans. One person not really feeling the love? Former star Mischa Barton.

Barton, who went on to do … well, not much of anything after departing the lead role of Marisa Cooper at the end of Season 3, recently spoke with Us Weekly about her complicated feelings regarding the show that propelled her to stardom.

“You know — never say never,” Barton says about the prospect of a reunion, of which her participation would seem impossible since Marissa died and all. “But, I think things have to feel right and it doesn’t feel right.”

Barton continues with what seems like an insinuation that the hit show was actually a hindrance to her career. “You cant’ say that you feel one way or another about things, but before ‘The O.C.’ I was on track to do some great films, as well, and one thing happens and then got all this mega stardom all from this show. It it what it is, but I’m not looking to get sucked back into the limelight of it.”

Beyond that, Barton admits that she hasn’t stayed close with co-stars Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson. “I don’t,” she says of keeping in touch. “I mean, I run into people every once in a while, but I’m doing my own thing. I work a lot, so I feel like I’m never around in L.A. and I know what Ben and Rachel work on shows here.”

As for that much-celebrated 10-year anniversary? “I was like, ‘I hope everyone doesn’t start watching it again!'” Barton says.

So, to sum up: Mischa Barton doesn’t want to do an “O.C.” reunion, thinks the show ruined her film career, doesn’t talk to any of her former cast mates, and hopes no one ever watches the show again. What gratitude!
