The Egyptian Cobra that went missing from the Bronx Zoo last Friday (March 25) only to become a massive Twitter sensation/folk hero has apparently been found. Wildlife Conservation Society officials are expected to make an announcement Thursday (March 31) afternoon, according to MyFox New York. Though per Twitter, @BronxZoosCobra was checking out opening day at Yankee Stadium as of around 2:45 p.m. ET.

If you see a bag of peanuts inexplicably moving along the ground at Yankee Stadium today. Just ignore it. It’s probably nothing.less than a minute ago via web

Sadly, this may impact the cobra’s chances of hosting “Saturday Night Live,” just as a Facebook campaign (ala Betty White) to recruit it for the job was gaining steam with over 4,000 followers on board.

Officials believed the venomous snake was probably somewhere in the vicinity of the zoo’s reptile house, but according to @BronxZoosCobra, the snake spent the past week hanging out at the Statue of Liberty, visiting Ellis Island, singing karaoke, staying at a HIlton and generally partying it up like a rube in the big city. Which, just so we’re clear, is totally cool for a snake.
