MTV announced on Monday (Aug. 5) that they were ordering a fourth season of its critically acclaimed comedy “Awkward,” though it will be the first without the guidance of creator Lauren Iungerich.

As previously reported, Iungerich departed the series at the end of June, as production on Season 3 was wrapping up. The network hoped to renew the Ashley Rickards-starring comedy for another season, but a replacement for Iungerich needed to be found first.

Deadline reports that Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler have been locked in as new showrunners. The two previously co-created the VH1 comedy “So noTORIous” starring Tori Spelling and most recently worked on the CW’s “90210.”

The back half of Season 3 of “Awkward” will air this October.
