In a new interview, Natalie Wood‘s sister Lana Wood talks to “Today” about the re-opening of Natalie’s drowning death investigation.

“As to how I feel, I’m scared. I’m nervous. I’m happy, I think. I’m so ambivalent. It’s almost like having to relive her death again,” says Lana.

Matt Lauer asks why “scared” and she says, “I have spent the last thirty years preferring to just believe that everything was a simple an accident. A slip and fall and an accident. It’s easier that way. And I think easier for a great many people. Although a lot of things didn’t add up and I was always concerned about various things that were said. It’s easier. You want to think the best. You want to think what’s easiest to believe and what’s kindest to believe.”

Wood goes on to say that she does believe boat captain Dennis Divern and that her relationship with Robert Wagner, Natalie’s husband at the time of her death, has been estranged since Natalie died.

“I’m so frightened of hearing things I don’t want to hear. I want to be told everything is exactly as they said. I know it isn’t quite like that,” says Lana.

And if she could say something to Wagner right now, she says, “I would tell him that I love him and I know that Natalie loved him dearly and that he loved her dearly. It’s going to be tough. But I think all the truth should come out, I really do.”
