jane lynch hgn NBC renews 'Hollywood Game Night' for Season 2, hosted by Jane Lynch

NBC has renewed “Hollywood Game Night,” the network announced on Tuesday (August 20). Season 2 will be 10 episodes long, and will also see the return of host Jane Lynch.

The Thursday night game show — which allows two contestants each week to step beyond the velvet rope and rub shoulders with some of their favorite celebrities as they compete in a game night — was created by Sean Hayes, who based the series on his real-life game nights.

“‘Hollywood Game Night’ allows the audience to take a seat on the couch next to their favorite celebrities and enjoy the pandemonium and exuberance of the colorful cast of celebrities in each episode,” Paul Telegdy, NBC’s President of Alternative and Late Night Programming, said in a press release. “Jane and her friends know how to throw a party and we’re thrilled viewers have come to play too.”

Season 1 celebrity contestants included Kristin Bell, Rose Byrne, Nick Cannon, Kristin Chenoweth, Minnie Driver, Patricia Heaton, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Amy Poehler, Martin Short, and Jason Sudeikis.

“It’s fun hanging with friends and playing ringmaster, while trying to help our contestants earn $25,000,” Lynch said. “It’s a win-win for all.”

“Hollywood Game Night” airs at 10 p.m. ET Thursdays on NBC.
