cee lo adam levine NBC's 'The Voice' wants Cee Lo, Adam Levine as judgesNBC’s upcoming talent competition “The Voice” is going after some big names to fill its judges’ seats.

The network and “Voice” producer Mark Burnett are in talks with Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine about joining the show, EW reports, and have also reached out to a “major-name female star.” Citing “unconfirmed sources,” EW says that female star is Christina Aguilera, but then again they’re unconfirmed sources, so that should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Aguilera is easily the biggest name of the trio, but any of them would be a pretty good get.

No one has signed a contract yet, but NBC is reportedly hoping to announce at least some of the judging panel within the next week or so.

“The Voice” is based on a Dutch show that was a ratings hit. Its format differs somewhat from “American Idol” and “The X Factor,” starting with the fact that during the audition round, judges will sit with their backs to the singers so they’re evaluating only the person’s voice. If one of the four judges (or “coaches,” as NBC calls them) selects a singer, the chair spins around and brings judge and singer face to face.

From there, each judge/coach forms a team of singers who will face off internally until only the best remain. Viewers start voting in the final stages, when members of different teams square off against each other.

Carson Daly will be the host of “The Voice,” which is scheduled to premiere sometime in the spring.
