mark harmon nov 2010 gi 'NCIS' Mark Harmon more popular than Oprah Winfrey? Maybe CBS is on to somethingIt seems like every which way we turn we are confronted with Oprah Winfrey‘s bright, smiling face. It’s her final season! She has her own network! She gave our best friend’s neighbor’s cousin a car last week as a tip because she didn’t have any small bills!

But according to a new Harris Poll, “NCIS” star Mark Harmon has overtaken her to become America’s favorite TV star.

Harmon was No. 8 last year. Not sure what he did this time around to make such a huge leap. We saw no campaign ads, buttons or posters.

It would be interesting to see the poll participants demographic breakdowns. Although, in general, the choices are across the board in sensibility. Still, we’re pretty sure if you’d have a problem with someone dating your daughter you probably shouldn’t vote for them. (For the record, that’s a dig at Charlie Sheen, not Ellen DeGeneres.)

Oprah didn’t fall far though. She tied for second place with “House’s” Hugh Laurie. Meanwhile, Jay Leno may have gotten “The Tonight Show” back but at what cost? He was completely dropped from the list this year.

Here’s the Top 10:

1. Mark Harmon
2. Hugh Laurie, Oprah Winfrey
4. Conan O’Brien
5. Charlie Sheen, Jon Stewart
7. Ellen DeGeneres
8. Bill O’Reilly
9. David Letterman
10. Steve Carell
