USA has picked up a third season of “Necessary Roughness,” but it won’t be as long as the first two.
The cable channel ordered 10 episodes of the series starring Callie Thorne, down from 16 episodes this season and 12 in Season 1. The pickup also means that all of USA’s summer series — “Burn Notice,” “Covert Affairs,” “Royal Pains,” “Suits” and “White Collar” were previously picked up — will be back in 2013.
“‘Necessary Roughness’ is an important page in our network playbook,” network co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber say in a statement. “With a standout team of actors and writers playing at the top of their game, the upcoming season promises to deliver high-impact and creative storytelling.”
“Necessary Roughness” averaged about 2.7 million viewers in its summer run. It returns Jan. 23 with five episodes to conclude Season 2.
