Kevin Murphy will be the new executive producer and day-to-day showrunner on “Caprica,” according to The Hollwyood Reporter.

He joins EPs Ron Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson.

Murphy was previously hired on as a co-executive producer to work on the second half of this season’s episode order.

Other TV news:

 – George Segal will star in the TV Land pilot “Retired at 35,” which follows a businessman who leaves NYC behind and moves into his parents’ Florida retirement home. Segal will play the man’s father.

Sagal played magazing boss Jack Gallo in the NBC sitcom “Just Shoot Me” for seven seasons and has been seen on “Entourage” and “Pushing Daisies.

 – The Tyler Perry TBS series “Meet the Browns” is going to broadcast syndication. It’s based on the movie of the same name and has been TBS’ No. 1 series among adults 18-49 this season.

mylittlepony 290 New 'Caprica' showrunner, George Segal pilot & My Little Pony TV – The popular My Little Pony toys will be the first Hasbro property that will get the TV series treatment on a new upcoming kids cable channel that’s a joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery.

The My Little Pony toys originated in 1983 and consisted of colorful plastic ponies (that may have been a unicorn, pegasus or the best ever: a unicorn-pegasus) that had specific marking of cute things on their hindquarters, much like what Care Bears displayed on their bellies.
