new girl full season pickup 'New Girl' to continue being adorable for a full season on FOXFOX has given the first full-season order of 2011-12 to its comedy “New Girl,” which has earned some of the young season’s best ratings for a new series.

The network has ordered 11 extra episodes of the show, which stars Zooey Deschanel as a woman who moves in with three guys (Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris) after a bad breakup. That brings its total to 24, a little more than the industry-standard 22.

“We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that [creator] Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline,” FOX Entertainment president Kevin Reilly says. “It’s great that audiences have responded so positively so far, and we’re confident that even more people will embrace the show — and more comedy on FOX — this season.”

“New Girl” premiered last week to a little over 10 million viewers and a strong 4.7 rating among adults 18-49 — second among all series premieres (behind CBS’ “2 Broke Girls”) so far this season. Tuesday’s (Sept. 27) episode retained better than 90 percent of the premiere audience in both the 18-49 demographic and total viewers, and in both weeks the show has built on its lead-in from “Glee.”

The show airs at its normal time, 9 p.m. ET Tuesday, next week but will move around a little later in October due to FOX’s baseball playoff coverage. It will jump to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Oct. 12 and air at 9:30 Tuesday, Oct. 18.
