nicollette sheridan trial gi Nicollette Sheridan's 'Deperate Housewives' appeal suffers setbackThings might soon be getting desperate for former “Desperate Housewives” star Nicollette Sheridan in her lawsuit against Touchstone Television. The Hollywood Reporter is saying an appeals court has indefinitely delayed her scheduled September retrial, saying that a major claim should have been found in Touchstone’s favor.

Sheridan has accused Touchstone of wrongful termination after she complained that show creator Marc Cherry gave her a “nice wallop” to the head. But the first case ended in a hung jury in March. The actress is seeking $4 million.

Lawyers for the defense had argued in the initial trial that they simply did not pick up the option in the actress’s contract and, under California law, this is not considered wrongful termination.

On Friday (June 1), the California Court of Appeals agreed with Touchstone. The ruling states, “It is further ordered that the retrial currently set for Sept. 10 is hereby stayed pending further order of the court.”

Sheridan’s lawyer Mark Baute counters that all hope is not lost. “We will file our briefs and move forward accordingly,” he says.
