Chris Messina, who plays Amy Adams' husband in Nora Ephron's "Julie and Julia," had to literally stuff himself for the film.
He tells The Dish Rag that he had to eat 36 bruschettas in a row at one point and downed four whole lobsters in another scene.
"I ate tons of food. … I was complaining and complaining and Nora screamed from the other room, 'Robert De Niro would do it!' and she was right, of course, so I kept going. Didn't throw up.
Chris had to come to the set starving so he could stuff himself. And he gained 8-10 pounds during the shoot and wishes he had hired a trainer to help him take it off when filming was done.
He advises going to see this foodie film with an empty stomach and dining afterward.
"If you go in full, you might throw up."
You may recognize Chris from the TV shows "Law & Order," "Third Watch" and "Medium" as well as the films "You've Got Mail," "Rounders," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and Sam Mendes' romantic comedy "Away We Go."
Watch for Chris in "Lost" creator J.J. Abrams' new HBO medical series based on the lives of cancer patients, "Anatomy of Hope."
