oj simpson parole granted O.J. Simpson granted parole, not leaving prison soon

It’s a bittersweet day for O.J. Simpson. After pleading his case for leniency July 25, the former football player was granted parole from some of his charges in connection with a 2007 Las Vegas robbery, which saw Simpson take sports memorabilia at gunpoint.
Even though he was given parole on some charges, Simpson won’t be leaving jail anytime soon. He was sentenced to consecutive terms for his crimes and has at least four more years before he will be released, at which time he will be 70 years old.
In their decision to grant Simpson parole, the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners note that he has maintained a “positive institutional record” and has taken part in programs dealing with the “behavior that led to incarceration,” the Associated Press reports.
Simpson’s lawyer was pleased with the ruling, adding, “There is no reason not to grant him parole. I’m glad they did what they should have done.”
