peter pan felix once upon a time 'Once Upon a Time': [SPOILER] dies as Peter Pan forms 'The New Neverland'We thought for sure last week’s “Once Upon a Time” would feature a minor character death, as our intrepid heroes made their way out of Neverland. Turns out we were one week early.

Back from Neverland, it’s a joyous reunion of hugs and congratulations as the townspeople welcome the travelers home. But Pan is ready to set his plan in motion, starting with sucking up to Regina because he knows she’s desperate for Henry’s love (which is really sad to watch when you know it’s not Henry saying those things to her).

Emma thinks something is up with Henry but doesn’t know for sure until Pan breaks his shadow away from the ship’s sail and kills the Blue Fairy (more on that in a moment). When the Scooby Gang lets Pan out of Pandora’s Box in order to find out how he could have been controlling his shadow from inside, Pan appears claiming to be Henry.

He convinces Emma (and everyone else) by telling her something only she would know and they set off to get the real Pan in Henry’s body who is currently being kept “safe” in Regina’s vault. Except Pan has knocked her out and stolen the curse that sent them all to Storybrooke, intent on casting it again, which will cause everyone to forget who they are and let Pan and Felix turn the town into the new Neverland.

Fairytale Land

It’s a Snow and Charming flashback that actually doesn’t cast that much insight into the present-day actions. They go after Medusa, intending to use her head to freeze Regina and in the process, Snow realizes they need to start a family right away because anything can happen at any time, so you shouldn’t hesitate.

Gotta say — some weeks I love the flashbacks and other weeks I really wish there weren’t any and that I could see more present-day action.

For instance, like in tonight’s episode, the action felt so rushed. It would’ve been nicer to see more of Pan formulating his plan or of Gold concocting the potion to save David or of the townspeople being sad over the Blue Fairy’s death. Maybe she’s not really dead? Or something? Because it seemed unceremoniously glossed over.

Either way, all the Storybrooke action felt so rushed, so I could’ve done without the flashback and more Storybrooke.

Thoughts & Tidbits

  • It’s nice that Ariel and Eric found each other in Storybrooke. Is that the last we see of them? Let’s hope not.
  • I was so glad that Henry (in Pan’s body) told Regina that he needs her. It was so sad when she found out all the nice things she thought Henry said to her were just a ploy.
  • For a split second when Pan’s shadow was chasing the Blue Fairy, I didn’t get a good look at her face and thought it was actually Ariel who died and was going to be very upset at that turn of events. Anybody else have to rewind and check?
  • I’m very curious to see where the fall finale leaves everything next week — the curse re-happening to everyone would be kind of a retread, so I’m hoping that is thwarted. But on the other hand, what’s left of the show if it is thwarted? Just fairytale characters living happily in a coastal town in Maine? That’s not much of a show. Thankfully, we do know “Lost” alum Rebecca Mader is joining the fray as a new villain. I wonder who she is. And will Peter Pan finally be defeated?
  • Best Lines:

Emma: “Sure you don’t have other reasons for pushing me toward Neal?”
    : “Like what?”
: “I don’t know, keeping me away from Hook?”
: “You think I’m interested in Hook? Emma, I’m a married man.”

    Regina: “I love you.”
    Henry as Pan
: “I know. That’s why this was so easy.”

What did you think of “The New Neverland”?
