brett claywell one life to live 320 'One Life to Live's' Brett Claywell shuts down partying rumorsOn Tuesday (March 16), Brett Claywell chatted with Zap2it about being fired from “One Life to Live” after a groundbreaking year playing Kyle, one half of the gay couple known to fans as “Kish.”  Scott Evans, who played Kyle’s boyfriend, gay police officer Oliver Fish, was also let go.

ABC has said the couple is being written off because of poor ratings and a failure to “resonate with the mainstream audience,” and fans speculated that middle America may have rejected the gay storyline due to homophobia.

A source for TV Guide Canada claims that Claywell and Evans’ unprofessional behavior is to blame for the K.O. According to the source, schedules had to be changed and scenes had to be discarded due to one actor’s “partying” and one actor’s “unavailability.”

“There is absolutely no truth to this rumor,” Claywell tells Zap2it. “Scott and I treated each scene and each moment with the dedication and respect it deserved, and poured our hearts into those roles. Any stories to the contrary, especially this one, are malicious and offensive.  Every scene that was filmed is a testament to that work ethic.”

A spokesperson for the show did not comment on rumors, but did say, “‘One Life to Live’ has a history of … returning popular characters when they serve the ongoing story. These great characters remain in Llanview, and while there are no immediate plans to advance their story, the door is always open for their return.”
