After a brief sojourn into the comedy world, our “One Tree Hill” favorite Sophia Bush is returning to her dramatic roots with a leading role in NBC’s “Hatfields & McCoys.”
Produced by Charlize Theron and written by John Glenn, the project reimagines the famed Hatfield-McCoy feud, which took place in post-Civil War Virginia, as a modern day rivalry in Pittsburgh.
Bush will play the eldest McCoy sibling, Emma, a doctor and the golden child of the family. When the patriarch of the McCoy family dies violently, it provokes the long-dormant feud between the two warring families, unearthing decades of resentment and power-struggles.
“The 4400” star Patrick Flueger is set to play Emma’s younger brother, Jack, who becomes obsessed with revenge after his father’s murder, and Virginia Madsen will play their cunning and manipulative mother, Eloise.
We’re thrilled to see Bush returning to the small screen — we listed her as one of the stars we most wanted to see back on TV in 2013.
