Ben Wyatt is stuck in the Friend Zone, and he’s not all that happy about it — despite what he may say.

Call us crazy, but we’re just not buying Ben’s (Adam Scott) insistence that he’s cool just being friends with Leslie (Amy Poehler) in the above clip from Thursday’s (Nov. 10) “Parks and Recreation.” It could be the way that he repeats “It’s fun” five times in the talking head at the end of the scene, or the way he deflates when Leslie has to leave the Model United Nations session for campaign business. But Ben is not in a happy place right now.

That’s not good for him, but it could be very good for the show, because Scott is really good at squeezing comedy out of repressed feelings.

Thursday’s episode also has Ron (Nick Offerman) searching for someone to fill Tom’s (Aziz Ansari) job, and as you can see in the video at the end of the post, the candidate pool is not especially deep. We don’t see how this ends with Tom not taking his old job back, but if that means an episode’s worth of Tom-Ron interaction, we’re all for it.

“Parks and Rec” airs at 8:30 p.m. ET Thursday on NBC.
