parks and recreation season finale nbc 'Parks and Recreation': NBC renews veteran comedy for Season 6Leslie Knope better be getting ready for that recall election.

NBC has given Amy Poehler and Co. another season on the air, renewing “Parks and Recreation” for a sixth season on Thursday (May 9), a network source confirmed with Zap2It.

The sitcom, which left several balls in the air in its Season 5 finale, including the impending fatherhood of Ron Swanson, now stands as the elder statesman for the Peacock comedy brand, with both “30 Rock” and “The Office” shuttering this season.

It’s been a busy day at the network, with NBC already having sent out a flurry of series orders to a trio of comedies (“About a Boy” from Jason Katims, “Sean Saves the World” starring Sean Hayes and “Family Guide” starring Parkey Posey), as well as the dramas “Believe” and “Crisis.”

“Parks and Rec” joins the network’s previously renewed drama series “Parenthood,” “Grimm,” “Revolution,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago Fire.” The fate of the networks remaining comedies, including perennial bubble show “Community” and freshmen duo “Go On” and “The New Normal” remains to be seen.
