paul mccartney gun control gi Paul McCartney supports gun control with Voices Against Violence

Paul McCartney has joined forces with Tony Bennett to campaign for stricter gun control legislation. The Beatles vet recorded a message for Voices Against Violence to encourage people to call their local congressman and get them to vote in favor of new legislation.

“Hi, this is Paul McCartney, and in a minute you will be connected to a congressperson who needs to hear your voice, now. Tell the congressperson that you support common-sense laws that keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people, including criminal background checks on all gun sales,” McCartney says in the message. “Enough is enough. Please add your voice — and thank you for adding your voice to end gun violence.”

He isn’t the only celebrity to join forces with Voices Against Violence. By texting “MYVOICE” to 877877, callers could also get a message from Alec Baldwin, Rosie O’Donnell, Josh Groban or Mia Farrow.

Despite this effort from Voices Against Violence, the Senate rejected the attempt to ban assault weapons with a split of 54-46 votes. That hasn’t stopped the campaign though, as Bennett tweets, “We will not stop until our voices are heard.”
