If you have fears about Peter Capaldi taking over as the lead on “Doctor Who,” don’t worry, because he’s here to put them to rest. That’s exactly what Capaldi did for one young autistic fan, who was observing filming of Season 8 of the series, decked out in a great Dalek costume.
The fan, a 5-year-old girl, was worried about Matt Smith leaving the series, because she was so accustomed to going on adventures with him and Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman). Those fears were put to rest when Capaldi spoke to the girl himself.
In a video, uploaded by her mother, Capaldi assures the girl, “I’ll do my very best to be as much fun and as friendly as he is.” He also tells her that Smith welcomed him to the show and gave him his watch to pass the torch.
After showing the girl a photo, presumably of himself and Coleman with Smith, he tells her, “So they say it’s OK for me to be the Doctor. I hope that you think it would be OK for me to be the Doctor, too.”

Another video of the moment, which you can see below, shows Coleman right there with Capaldi, reassuring the girl that everything will be alright.

TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
