riley cooper philadelphia eagles n word gi Philadelphia Eagles player Riley Cooper fined for using the N wordPhiladelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper has found himself in some hot water after a video surfaced of the NFL star using a racial slur.

In the video, which first surfaced on a website called, Cooper is at a June 9 Kenny Chesney concert in Philly, rocking the requisite sleeveless flannel shirt, when he turns to the cameras and says, “I will jump that fence and fight every n***** here.” Yikes.

After the damning footage began making the rounds, Cooper released a statement of apology, saying, “I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize. I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, to Jeffrey Lurie, to Howie Roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did was wrong and I will accept the consequences.”

The Eagles say the player was fined for making his repugnant comments and “has accepted responsibility for his words and actions,” TMZ reports. The team says, “This sort of behavior or attitude from anyone has no role in a civil society.” The amount of Cooper’s fine was not specified.

Cooper’s team had high hopes for the athlete heading into the 2013 season, expecting to make him a starter in September. Whether these plans change in light of his actions remains to be seen.
