Pia Toscano‘s early exit from “American Idol” was quite the shocking moment of the season, but one listen to “This Time,” her debut single, and we think Pia is going to be just fine. We love how current she sounds, which was sometimes an issue on the show.

According to Ryan Seacrest‘s website, the song is collaboration with Ester Dean, who has written such hits as “S&M,” “Rude Boy” and “What’s My Name” for Rihanna and also Nicki Minaj‘s “Super Bass.”

Pia recently signed a recording contract with Interscope Records, which is headed up by “Idol” mentor Jimmy Iovine. Her as-of-yet untitled debut album is due out later this year.

“I feel like I’m in really good hands,” says Pia. “The most important
thing for me is feeling safe with my team. I think they have a good
vision for me and where my career is going to go.”

Catch Pia and all the Season 10 Idols on tour this summer. What do you think of the single?
