Sigourney Weaver is heading up the latest original summer offering from the USA Network — “Political Animals,” a miniseries set in Washington D.C. that follows the lives of former First Lady and current Secretary of State Elaine Barrish and her family.

“I have the joy of playing Elaine Barrish Hammond … Elaine is very capable in her professional life and yet she has her blind spots in her personal life. Everyone in her family is flawed and we make terrible mistakes …. it’s so much the dynamic of a real family,” says Weaver.

Weaver is surrounded by an incredible cast of actors playing her family, from Ellen Burstyn and Ciaran Hinds to James Wolk and Sebastian Stan, plus Carla Gugino stars as a political reporter. The show is currently going to run for a six-episode miniseries, but perhaps if it does well, it’ll come back next summer?

“Political Animals” premieres Sunday night, July 15, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA.
