Welcome back, “Pretty Little Liars” fans! It seems like it’s been so long since the Halloween train episode, but PLL really came back with a bang this winter, no?
Mona is now loosed back on Rosewood, having been released from the nuthouse. She desperately wants to be normal and be friends with the Liars, which we’re on the fence about — is she sincere? Has she gotten better, really? Only Hanna seems to buy it, though Mona is doing herself no favors by creepily sneaking to Hanna’s room in the middle of the night. We think for now we’re going with “cautious optimism” regarding Mona.
Well, that is, until she tried to kill Meredith in a fiery shed. Was it Mona behind that? Was it “A”? We think we’re supposed to think it’s Mona, but it’s really “A”, so perhaps we don’t have to give up on her so quickly.
Interestingly, Mona and Jason DiLaurentis appear to be new BFFs, so that’s a little weird. After the Toby reveal last summer, we have to wonder if Spencer is going to lose both her boyfriend and now her brother to Team Mona. Or maybe they’re all working together against “A”? Could go either way.
In other news, Byron continues to be a bad guy. We try to have sympathy for him, what with Ali’s blackmail and all, but … we just don’t. Byron = bad. Booooo, Byron. Where does he get off acting like Aria should be fine with Meredith teaching at Rosewood? She’s your dirty mistress, dude. In what world should Aria have to be OK with that on an level?
Though speaking of Aria, every day that goes by with her not telling Ezra about his kid is every day he’s going to resent her for it. She should never have promised not to tell, but she definitely should have broken that promise by now. Your duty is not to Ezra’s baby mama, Aria, it’s to your boyfriend.
Finally, what on earth is creepy Norman Bates doing working as a janitor at the school? And why is he reading Ali’s journal? Can’t wait to find out.
What did you think of the PLL winter premiere, fans?
