prince william losing job Prince William losing his job? Search and rescue service bought by American companyThe Sea King helicopter, which has be used for 40 years to do search and rescue missions in Britain, is going to be retired — and maybe Prince William along with it.

NBC reports that American company Bristow Helicopters has inked a ´┐Ż1.6 billion deal to take over the search-and-rescue service run by the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy squadrons. Prince William has been flying Sea King helicopters for the RAF for three years, working as a Flight Lieutenant at the RAF Valely on Angelsey in North Wales.

But his role and the roles of his fellow servicemen, will be replaced by civilians when the deal goes through in 2015. It is expected that some of the service air and ground crews will apply for the new private service jobs, but there are concerns about the jobs that will be lost.

We imagine Prince William will find something to fall back on, though.
