Previously on “Project Runway: All Stars,” the final three designers were given four days to design a line and were given the eliminated designers to pick from like fashion dodgeball for their team for the finale showdown.
The final three are down to Austin Scarlett (Season 1, 4th place), Michael Costello (Season 8, 4th place) and Mondo Guerra (Season 8, runner-up). Their final runway show takes place in Manhattan’s Gotham Hall, which is an incredible space.
All the men are working like mad right up until the last minute, but then all the shows seem to go off without a hitch. Our personal taste definitely favors Michael and Mondo’s collections over Austin’s, especially Mondo’s Rorschach-esque pieces. What did you like the best?
At the judging, Austin is criticized a little for not having a “collection” – not all the pieces go together. Mondo is praised for the cohesiveness of his outfits as a collection. The judges also like the Rorschach print. Michael’s collection is complimented for his clothes being store-ready, but his prints are criticized for not being sophisticated and expensive-looking enough.
At this point, we feel like Mondo is the winner.
The judges reveal to the three finalists that Michael is third place, essentially, and then they tell the remaining two that … Mondo Guerra wins! Nailed it.
The winner sells their merchandise in a boutique within select Neiman Marcus stores and online, a spread in Marie Claire and a position as guest editor there for a year and $100,000 cash. The runners-up get trips to Paris, so that’s not too shabby.
What do you think, “Project Runway” fans? Did your favorite designer win?
