Ten months off the air and a change in networks didn’t dampen fan interest in “Project Runway,” which got big ratings for its debut on Lifetime Thursday night.
The show, which was the subject of court battle that delayed its move to Lifetime to Bravo, drew 4.2 million viewers for its premiere — which makes it the most-watched series debut in network history. It also posted big improvements over its fifth-season premiere last summer.
Lifetime says the premiere’s 3.3 household rating is a 32-percent improvement over the season five premiere on Bravo. In the channel’s core audience of women 18-49, “Project Runway” scored a 3.2, up 28 percent over last season’s premiere.
The series averaged 3.6 million viewers in its final run on Bravo, which so far is its best total ever.
“Runway’s” new companion series, “Models of the Runway,” also did pretty well, grabbing 1.9 million viewers at 11 p.m. ET. The two-hour “All-Star Challenge” that preceded the premiere drew 2.9 million viewers.
