Tvpartywn25 They say clothes make the man. But who is making the clothes? This week the answer is our guests, as we throw a party that recognizes the fashion designer in all of us. So grab your gabardine, touch your tulle, and sew like the wind because Wednesday night on Bravo we’re throwing a Project Runway party!

Setting the scene:
This can be easy or it can be hard, meaning you can choose to go in the direction of sewing circle or do it right and fill the room with dress bust forms just like the ones in the workroom at Parsons The New School for Design. If you can’t get those, check into renting mannequins — remember, a roomful of naked mannequins is as creepy as it is festive. Another option is inflatables. Of course, you’ll also need reams of various cloth, pins and pincushions, and a few sewing machines. For the disinterested men, be sure to have staplers and duct tape on hand. Invitations should be in the form of paper doll clothing, while party favors can include everything from previous seasons of the show on DVD or T-shirts designed by former contestants to Tim Gunn’s new book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style. Hire models to walk around complimenting everyone on their designs.

Designers are notoriously flashy, so tell guests to either go over the top — consider feather boas, leather vests and fedoras — or to wear their labels on their sleeves: anything that has labels all over it like Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica or Calvin Klein.

The models won’t be eating, which means there’ll be plenty left over for the rest of us. Even so, go healthy with vegetable platters, cheeses and sushi. With a nod to show host Heidi Klum, add a little schnitzel and lager.

Music and fashion go hand in hand in more ways than one. Consider compiling a soundtrack from musicians who’ve wed models — frankly, a pretty easy task: Seal, Mick Jagger, Rob Thomas, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Billy Joel, et al.

If you’re a die-hard fashionista but don’t get invited to the fashion hot spots, we suggest you visit Charity Folks Online Auctions. The site helps charities sell donated items that are insanely cool. At this writing, the fashion-related auctions included tickets to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles, a weeklong stay at designer Betsey Johnson’s Mexico villa, seats to Vera Wang’s latest collection during Fashion Week and many other fashionable items.
