Anyone else going through “Psych” withdrawal?
It’s been months since we’ve had new episodes and the wait is a bit torturous, isn’t it?
While filming of the upcoming fifth season doesn’t start until Tuesday, Korbi TV caught up with the cast and crew of the series at a Paley Center event honoring the show this week.
“Psych” creator Steve Franks — who told fans that he’s been begging to have a panel at Paley for two-and-a-half years — promised that Season 5 will have no shortage of pop culture-infused episodes.
“We’ve got four scripts in now,” Franks says. “We’re going to do a Hong Kong, Jackie Chan, kung fu episode which is going to be so much fun. We’re doing a ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ type thing. We’re doing a UFO episode which is really, really fun. [And that’s] just off the first four. Then we’ve got a ‘Fast and the Furious’ [episode] coming up, we’ve got a lot of really good fun stuff.”
“And we’ll go back to the Yin Yang killer at the end,” executive producer Chris Henze says. “We’ll do a little ‘Twin Peaks.’”
“We always bandy about the idea of doing a musical,” Franks adds. “It could happen this year. For me it’s like, if we’re going to do a musical, I want to be the one who writes it. And at this point it’s like, okay, as soon as I get time.”
Check out the video below for more, like who will be donning dancing shoes in the premiere, how the theme song will vary this year and which “Glee” star might get a call if that musical ep does end up going down…
By the way, the big 80s band that Franks and Henze are hoping will do their take on the theme song? Turns out, it’s Tears for Fears. “Psych” star James Roday says he’s about 97% sure it’s happening.
