One person is dead and three are injured after the outdoor stage Radiohead was scheduled to play on collapsed before the band’s concert at Toronto’s Downsview Park.
According to a CNN report, some metal scaffolding above the stage fell, causing the metal framing to crumple the stage. There were people underneath the stage at the time, says Twitter user Jason Ip, who saw the incident go down.
The official Downsview website has only been updated with the message, “Radiohead concert cancelled. There has been an incident, more details forthcoming,” but the Toronto Police Department posted an update on the injuries.
An update on the Toronto Police Facebook page reads: “1 male in his 30’s pronounced dead at the scene.
1 male, 45, transported to hospital with non-life threatening head injuries. 2 other males, minor injures, not treated.
The investigation will continue for some time with the Ministry of Labour.
The area / structure has been made safe by Toronto Fire Services and contractors.
Radiohead has not officially commented on the incident. Foster the People is scheduled to play at the park on June 19.
