The saga of Randy and Evi Quaid has taken an even stranger turn — into Canada.
The Oscar-nominated actor and his wife were taken into custody in Vancouver earlier this week on immigration violations. At a hearing Friday (Oct. 22), the couple said they wanted refugee status so they can get away from people who are trying to harm them.
What kind of people? We’ll let the Quaids’ lawyer explain: “We are requesting asylum from Hollywood star whackers,” the attorney told the press during a break in Friday’s hearing, according to RadarOnline. He didn’t elaborate or take questions.
]]>charged in September with squatting in and vandalizing a house in Montecito, Calif. — a house the Quaids used to own and which they claim they still own. Property records indicate otherwise.
The Santa Barbara case is scheduled to resume Tuesday. Whether the Quaids will be allowed to return to the United States remains to be seen. As for just what is going through the Quaids’ minds — or what a “star whacker” is — your guess is as good as ours.
