The project has a script commitment from CBS.

In other pilot and pickup news:

HBO is embarking on an “Enlightened” path with actress Laura Dern and writer-director Mike White.

The cable channel has ordered a comedy pilot from White (“School of Rock,” “Pasadena”) that will star Dern as a hard-living woman who has an epiphany and tries to start living an “enlightened” life, thus giving the show its title. Her decision complicates things immensely for those around her, the HR says.

Dern was an Emmy nominee last year for her work in HBO’s movie “Recount.” She and White previously worked together on the 2007 movie “Year of the Dog.”

FOX has picked up a 13-episode series called “Jack and Dan” from “Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix.

It’s a cop show centering on a careerist officer who’s partnered with a wild man who’s coasting on an act of heroism from years ago. Casting hasn’t started yet, and the show would likely be a candidate for summer or fall 2010.

Fox TV Studios is producing “Jack and Dan” using the international co-production model that uses foreign partners to reduce costs and which yielded “Mental” and ABC’s “Defying Gravity” this summer. The difference this time is that the FOX network will be involved from the beginning, with the goal being that the network takes more ownership of the series.
