rebekah brooks getty Rebekah Brooks arrested in News of the World phone hacking scandalFormer News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks was arrested for a second time Tuesday (March 13) morning in the continuing tabloid saga of phone hacking allegations.

A source tells Reuters that Brooks and her husband, Charlie, were among six held on suspicion of conspiring to pervert the course of justice — or in this case, deleting email evidence.

News of the World, which was owned by Rupert Murdoch’s NewsCorp, shut down in July in the wake of revelations that journalists had hacked into the phones of various celebrities, members of the royal family and even a murder victim in search of stories.

While the police didn’t say who was arrested, NewsCorp confirmed that Mark Hanna, the head of security at NewsCorp’s British newspaper arm, was also held on suspicion. Also interesting: One of the descriptions apparently fit Rupert’s son, James Murdoch, but sources say he was in the U.S. at the time of the British raids.
