chris hemsworth josh hutcherson red dawn 'Red Dawn': See Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson in new trailer for long delayed rebootThe long-awaited trailer for the troubled “Red Dawn,” starring Chris Hemsworth (“The Avengers”), his brother’s “Hunger Games” costar Josh Hutcherson and Adrianne Palicki (“Friday Night Lights”), finally hit the Internet today.

The reboot of the 1984 thriller completed production in 2010, but was delayed as MGM struggled with the insolvency that also delayed tentpole productions of “The Hobbit” and the newest James Bond film “Skyfall.”

Taking on the lead role held by Patrick Swayze in the original film, Hemsworth tries his best to conceal his Australian accent as he and his band of Wolverines fend off an attack in America’s Heartland from China. (Check out the last line of the trailer: “This is our home.”)

When filmed, Hemsworth, of course, was a newbie to these shores, having a short but memorable portrayal as James T. Kirk’s father in J.J. Abrams“Star Trek.” Since then, he has starred in “Thor,” “The Avengers” and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” all box office hits. Coincidentally, the 28-year-old’s little seen “Cabin in the Woods” was also released in 2012 after a more than three-year delay.

In “Red Dawn” circa 1984, a band of locals take up arms against the mighty USSR. After originally designating North Korea as the big bad in this new version, the villain was changed yet again.

“Red Dawn” is slated for a Thanksgiving release.

What do you think of the trailer? Is “Red Dawn” worth the wait or a waste of your time?
