Red-Tails-screen-shot.jpgGeorge Lucas has been working on getting his newest film “Red Tails” out for decades. The film tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first African-American military aviators in U.S. history. The film hits theaters on Friday and Lucas has released a video talking about the making of the biopic.

“Just like “Star Wars,” it’s a big action movie, lots of
dogfights, lots of excitement,” Lucas says. “But it’s basically about a bunch of kids who went
through an amazing journey, and all came out heroes. They’re the knights
of the contemporary age.”

The Tuskegee Airmen emerged from a segregated military to become legendary heroes. Lucas told Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” that he had trouble bringing the film into theaters even now “because it’s an all-black movie. There’s no major white roles in it at all.”

“The story of the Tuskegee Airmen is a big story and it’s an amazing story,” Lucas says. We can’t wait to learn all about it.
