Drama is at the center of any good CW show, but when that drama involves stylish period dress and sexy royals, well that’s even better.
Enter “Reign,” a fictionalized retelling of the teenage adventures of Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kaine) as she enters the French court and prepares to marry French prince Francis (Toby Regbo). Add in some murder, ghosts, sex, and a love triangle and you’ve got one juicy piece of 16th century historical fiction.
Zap2it has an exclusive first look at the second episode of the series, “Snakes in the Garden,” airing at 9 p.m. ET Thursday (Oct. 24). There’s mostly bad news for our young ruler, as the episode surrounds Mary and Francis proving the strength of their alliance to a visiting English envoy. Perhaps that’s the reason for such a pensive look? Meanwhile, Queen Catherine (Megan Follows) attempts to silence anyone who knows about her plot to destroy Mary.
In coming episodes, look for another prince to vie for Mary’s hand in marriage, England’s armies to threaten Mary’s kingdom of Scotland, and her engagement to Francis to possibly end. Like we said: drama!
“Reign” airs Thursdays on The CW after “The Vampire Diaries.”
