rescue me final season 'Rescue Me's final season starts in July, plus 'Wilfred' and 'Louie' premieresFX will have something old, something new and something “Louie” on its schedule this summer.

The cable channel has set its summer schedule, which includes a comedy block pairing the second season of “Louie” and the new series “Wilfred” on Thursday nights starting in late June and the final season of “Rescue Me” beginning in July.

The last nine episodes of “Rescue Me” will debut on Tuesday, July 12 and focus on Tommy’s (Denis Leary) realization that he doesn’t have a whole lot of time left to redeem a life of bad choices.

“Wilfred” and “Louie” will both premiere on Thursday, June 23, at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET. The former is about a guy named Ryan (Elijah Wood in his first regular series role) who sees his pretty neighbor’s (Fiona Gubelmann) dog (Jason Gann) as a guy dressed up in a dog suit. The two strike up an oddball relationship. Dorian Brown also stars as Ryan’s sister. The show is based on an Australian comedy co-created by Gann; “Family Guy” veteran David Zuckerman adapted it for FX.

The second season of “Louie” will offer more observational vignettes as seen through the eyes of comedian Louis C.K.; its premiere comes two days after the DVD and Blu-ray release of Season 1 on June 21.
