CNN has terminated its working relationship with newscaster Rick Sanchez after some inflammatory comments he made on a satellite radio show.
“We thank Rick for his years of service,” CNN says in a statement Friday (Oct. 1). “And we wish him well.”
When asked what exactly Stewart was bigoted towards, Sanchez replied, “Everybody else who’s not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?” Later he backed down a bit and changed his language, calling Stewart “prejudiced.” Stewart has been known to mock Sanchez frequently on “The Daily Show,” calling him “a total meathead.”

When it was pointed out that Stewart as a Jew was a minority “as much as you are,” Sanchez replied, “Yeah. Yeah. Very powerless people,” adding, “Everybody that runs CNN is a lot like Stewart. And a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply that somehow they — the people in this country who are Jewish — are an oppressed minority? Yeah.” Listen to the audio: No replacement has been named for Sanchez yet. “CNN Newsroom” will be broadcast from 3-5 p.m. in place of “Rick’s List” for the time being.
