Know those girls who use any excuse to get in touch with the ex-boyfriends they still carry a torch for: “I just got a new job and you were the first person I wanted to call!”, “That band you love is going to be in town next month! I could get an extra ticket if you want to come!”, “I was cleaning and found that comb you lost! We should have dinner so I can give it back to you!”
Henceforth, those girls shall be known as “Rihannas.”
Following her Video of the Year win Thursday (Sept. 6) night at MTV’s Video Music Awards for her video “We Found Love,” Rihanna made a beeline for Chris Brown in the audience, kissing him on the lips and giving him a hug. Granted, she also hugged the guy next sitting next to him before running her hand over Brown’s hair and moving on.
Considering “We Found Love” features both a Brown look-a-like and a fight scene that basically mirrors the night Brown violently beat in a car three years ago, RiRi may have just been thanking him for his contributions to her art.
“My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me,” Rihanna told Oprah Winfrey last month of her and Brown’s “awkward” public meet-ups. “I have to maintain that and suppress it … and understand that that’s not going to go away.”
Or overcompensate with a PDA. Whichever.
