Rima Fakih, a former Miss USA from Michigan, was arrested early Saturday morning (Dec. 3) for suspicion of drunk driving. Now the Detroit Free Press says her hearing has been set. Fakih will have a hearing at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 in the 30th District Court in Highland Park, Mich. after being charged with misdemeanor drunken driving.
According to ABC affiliate WXYZ, Fakih blew 0.20, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. Fakih faces up to 93 days in jail if convicted.
Her attorney, Doraid Elder, says, “She is taking full responsibility. She wants to apologize to everybody she let down … She is very remorseful and very apologetic to all those she let down. She definitely regrets being in the situation that led her to the circumstances she is in now.”
Fakih won Miss USA in 2010. She was the first Arab American to win the pageant and the first Miss Michigan to win since 1993.
