jackie chan gi RIP Jackie Chan? Nah. Just an early April Fools gagWe’re not sure where it started — probably where most of these things start, in the lair of a 14-year-old boy who thinks it would be just hilarious to punk us all on Twitter by posting a false death rumor in between games of “World of Warcraft.”

Well, kiddo, mission accomplished. Sort of. #RIPJackieChan is trending on Twitter Tuesday (March 29), despite the fact that Jackie Chan — actor and gravity-defying martial arts master — is happy, healthy and 100 percent alive.

Still, the way Twitter works the trend is only compounded when additional tweeters hop on to the hashtag to decry the fake news. And, despite the overwhelming number of messages calling B.S. on the trend, a few poor souls appear to have fallen for the gag.

We should all take a lesson from this guy:

RIP Jackie Chan He aint dead ffs some of you peeps r like sheep just coz its on twitter dont mean its true lolless than a minute ago via web

Chan is, of course, not the first celebrity to be the victim of an Internet death hoax. Lindsay Lohan, Justin Bieber, Kanye West — all have been through this particular rumor mill.
