rodney king gi Rodney King pleads guilty to reckless drivingRodney King, whose videotaped beating by cops sparked the 1992 Los Angeles riots, pleaded guilty on Monday (Feb. 27) to reckless driving charges in connection to a 2011 arrest on suspicion of drunk driving, reports CNN.

King won’t serve any jail time. He’s instead been sentenced to 20 days of home detention and will be required to wear an ankle monitor to track his movements. He’s also been ordered to complete a nine-month sobriety education program and will be on probation for three years.

King has long battled an alcohol addiction and even appeared on a season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

“I’ll always have an issue when it comes to alcohol. My dad was an alcoholic, the addiction part is in my blood,” King told CNN in 2011. “What I’ve learned to do is to arrest my addiction. Arrest it myself, so I don’t get arrested.”
