Roseanne is developing a new comedy for NBC, after the network failed to pick-up her pilot “Downwardly Mobile” last season. She’s already in business with the network filming a guest arc on the final season of “The Office.” Meanwhile, Roseanne’s one-time TV husband John Goodman has been cast in Garry Trudeau’s “Alpha House,” about four U.S. Senators living in a rented house in Washington D.C., for Amazon. Brenda Song (“The Suite Life,” “The Social Network”) is the first casting for FOX’s untitled comedy series from “Ted” writers Alec Sulkin, Wellesley Wild and Seth MacFarlane. Sulkin and Wild wrote the pilot about two thirtysomething guys and their terrible dads. FOX has already ordered six episodes before the pilot is shot. [Deadline]

– Pilot “Good luck charm” James Burrows has booked three gigs on multicamera comedy pilots so far this season: NBC’s Sean Hayes pilot and CBS’ “Friends with Better Lives” and untitled Greg Garcia (“Raising Hope”) project. Burrows is known for his work on classics ranging from “Taxi,” “Cheers,” “Fraiser,” “Friends” and “Will & Grace” to current shows “2 Broke Girls” and “Mike & Molly.” He most recently helmed the pilot for CBS’ failed “Partners.” [Deadline]

Gary Fleder (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Life Unexpected”) has been hired to direct The CW’s girl-meets-alien romance “Oxygen,” while Jeffrey Reiner (“Awake,” “Friday Night Lights”) will direct NBC’s supernatural Western “Sixth Gun.” [Deadline]

– ABC has ordered its 12th drama pilot of the season, an adaptation of U.K. drama “The Syndicate” which will be rechristened “Lucky 7.” Series follows a life-changing lottery win for seven Queens service station employees. David Zabel and Jason Richman of “Detroit 187” will write and Steven Spielberg is among the executive producers. [THR]
