As the biggest awards show closest to the Oscars, one would think the SAG Awards would be a dress rehearsal of sorts on fashion for the big day — fingers crossed that is not the case judging by the 21st annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards red carpet.
People that normally kill it at every award show took risks that just simply missed the mark at this year’s ceremony honoring the finest in the acting profession.
While it is pretty hard to pick an absolute worst, there were several questionable color combination choices and some flat out unflattering fashions eye-soring it up out there — no matter what the age.
“Boyhood’s” Lorelei Linklater kind of gets a pass because she is only 20, but it needs to be pointed out there is so much wrong going on with her look. The puffy, gothic-inspired sleeves and too-high neckline in the front puts it on the bad list and it is a whole different horror show from the back. The blue tinted hair brushing the lace backing is just wrong on so many levels. It’s ok girl, thankfully you get another chance to shine at the Oscars.
It is really hard to say this, but for the most part the “Orange Is The New Black” cast was a fail at the SAG Awards. Laverne Cox’s braid was just a tad too much — it would have been better if she wore a crown.
Also Uzo Aduba’s yellow, mesh-like dress might not have been the best choice, considering she would be accepting an award on the big stage later in the night.
“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke has bared it all on the HBO series, and it’s no secret that she has a tiny, curvy shape. That’s why it’s so surprising that she chose a dress that somehow managed to look unflattering and make her seem heavy. Better luck next time, Ms. Clarke.
Amanda Peet, please note: Don’t ever wear something that draws a triangle around your stomach. The Care Bears called — they want their concept back.
“Veep’s” Anna Chlumsky wins for ugliest color combination of the night. Not sure if that is burnt orange and cream or what, but one thing is for certain — it is a no all the way around.
