Sarah Murdoch, daughter-in-law of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, announced the wrong winner during the live finale of “Australia’s Next Top Model.” She said 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich of Sydney had won, when in actuality 18-year-old Amanda Ware from Gold Coast was the winner. She was near tears when she had to backtrack on live TV. Oops. [Reuters]

“Big Brother 12’s” showmance Rachel Reilly and Brendon Villegas is coming to daytime TV. “Brenchel” will appear in two episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful” on Oct. 25 and 26. Reilly will play a waitress and Villegas a
bartender in a scene with many cast regulars. Will they be as good as Jordan and Jeff? Time will tell. [EW]

“Deadliest Catch” Capts. Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand, who were sued earlied this month by Discovery for allegedly not performing work on a planned spinoff
special — as well as Capt. Sig Hansen, issued a statement this afternoon saying they are “unable” to
continue on the hit adventure series due to the litigation. [THR, esq.]

The Syfy Saturday Original Movie “Sharktopus” starring
Eric Roberts nabbed 2.5 million total viewers and yearly 900,000 in the
18-49 demo during its Saturday, Sept. 25 premiere.
The movie’s success powered Syfy
to the No. 1 slot in cable entertainment networks during primetime for Adults
25-54 and the No. 2 cable entertainment network among Adults18-49. [Syfy]

Robert Trachinger, an ABC Sports staple who refined
slow-motion instant replay and developed hand-held cameras during
the division’s heyday in the 1960s, died Sept. 19 of heart failure
at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif. He was 86. [THR]
