eddie murphy gi 'Saturday Night Live': Eddie Murphy cameo rumors swirlingThere’s a chance, albeit a small one, that Ben Stiller won’t be the only “Saturday Night Live” alumnus to appear on the show this week.

Stiller, who briefly worked as a writer and featured performer on “SNL” in the late 1980s, is hosting Saturday’s (Oct. 8) episode (Foster the People is the musical guest). And according to Page Six, “work is going on behind the scenes” to have Eddie Murphy drop in for a cameo — which would mark his first “SNL” appearance since he left the cast in 1984.

Murphy and Stiller co-star in the upcoming movie “Tower Heist,” and he’s also hosting the Oscars next year, so a drop-in would make sense from a buzz-building standpoint. His rep, however, tells Page Six that “There are no plans for Eddie to appear on ‘SNL’ at this time, but perhaps in the future he will make a return.” NBC isn’t commenting.

Murphy hasn’t participated in any “SNL” reunions or specials since he left the show, which has given rise to rumors that he had a feud with producer Lorne Michaels. A source tells the site, though, that such rumors are baseless.

We’ll find out for sure if the reports of a Murphy cameo are true at 11:30 p.m. ET Saturday. In the meantime, here are the promos Stiller cut with cast member Jason Sudeikis.
