betty white snl 500 'Saturday Night Live': No more Betty White, live from New YorkBetty White says that in one way, at least, once is enough.

The Busiest Woman in Show Business claims to have no ambitions for a return engagement on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” following last spring’s much-promoted hosting stint that resulted in the latest of her six Emmy Awards. “You should quit while you’re even,” White tells Zap2it, “but they could not have been nicer.

“I think [‘SNL’ mentor] Lorne Michaels is a genius. He’s so bright and sweet, and to keep that thing going as long as he has … you start out with about 45 sketches, and they just keep going through them and gradually weeding them out through the week, until you get down to the five or six that make the show.

“I had a great time,” White stresses of the Facebook-user-prompted gig, “but that’s it!”

Nevertheless, White is starting 2011 charging out of the gate. She turns dramatic opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt in CBS’ “Hallmark Hall of Fame” film “The Lost Valentine” Sunday, Jan. 30, and she’s also about to start her second “Hot in Cleveland” season. She and fellow stars Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves launch new episodes of the TV Land sitcom Wednesday, Jan. 19.

“We had a table read yesterday (Monday, Jan. 3), and it was so cute,” White says of her first encounter with Bertinelli since the latter’s New Year’s Day marriage to longtime beau Tom Vitale in Malibu, Calif.

“I had a previous commitment and couldn’t make the wedding, but she came in like it was any other day. She said, ‘Well, we’ve been living together for six years. I don’t feel much like a bride!’ She is really a cutie, and they seem so happy together.”

Also at work on her sixth book (“I’m way behind schedule”), White has another big event on the horizon: her 89th birthday on Monday, Jan. 17. “I think that when you’ve had 89 of them,” she muses, “you should quit.”
