ABC’s “Scandal” will feature former “Desperate Housewife” Brenda Strong as a guest star this fall, and if she’s contacting Olivia Pope, chances are her character is at least a little desperate this time as well.
Strong and fellow “Everwood” alum Tom Amandes will guest-star in an episode of the ABC drama in the fall. (Amandes’ casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, while TV Guide broke the news on Strong). He’ll play the governor of a state, with Strong as his wife. There’s a chance both could extend their roles beyond one episode.
(A third “Everwood” veteran, Debra Mooney, will also recur on “Scandal” this season. There’s no word on whether her appearances will overlap with those of Amandes and Strong.)
Just how they come into contact with Olivia (Kerry Washington) is being kept secret. But it’s safe to assume it’s not because everything is going swimmingly.
Amandes and Strong both appeared on The WB’s “Everwood,” though never together, as Strong — who played Andy’s (Treat Williams) late wife — only showed up in flashbacks. She currently stars on TNT’s “Dallas.” Amandes has guested on “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes‘ other shows, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice”; his other recent credits include “Parenthood,” “Eli Stone” and “Big Love.”
Season 2 of “Scandal” premieres at 10 p.m. ET Thursday, Sept. 27.
